The Faculty of Engineering of the ”Vasile Alecsandri” University of Bacau organized the 20th edition of the OPROTEH International Conference (Constructive and Technological Design Optimization in the Machines Building Field) between May 21 and 23, 2025.

The event was attended by renowned specialists from Romania and abroad, who presented and debated the most current topics in the field of engineering, grouped into eight thematic sections. This year’s edition had a special significance, marking 64 years of higher education in Bacău and 49 years of higher technical education. Representatives of the Moldova State University, Dr. Veaceslav Sprincean, associate professor, and Dr. Marianna Savva, senior scientific researcher, participated in the conference with the communication ”APRIORI and PHYSTECH: New Solutions for Resilience Assessment and Modeling”, a planned activity within the international research project ”Advanced Technologies for Physical Resilience of Critical Infrastructures” under the NATO Science for Peace and Security program (APRIORI, SPS G6140).

At the same time, within the framework of the Conference program, the university’s research laboratories have been visited, familiarizing us with the latest innovative technologies implemented in the teaching and research activities within the University. Thus, the most advanced human-shaped robot in the world, AMECA, was presented, a robot assign at the Artificial Intelligence laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering of the ”Vasile Alecsandri” University of Bacau. With the help of the advanced robot, students enrich their programming knowledge in a unique way.

AMECA uses built-in microphones, eye-mounted binocular cameras, a chest camera, and facial recognition software to interact with the audience. It also has articulated motorized arms, fingers, neck, facial features, and last but not least, it can blink.

Participation in OPROTEH provides access to the latest research and technologies in the field of engineering, contributing to establishing valuable connections with specialists in this field.
